Are Vape Tanks Interchangeable? Is It Compatible?

What is vaping? 

In simple words, it is a battery-powered smoking device. A flavored liquid in the cartridge vaporizes when heat is applied. We inhale that vapor. There are different models of e-smoking devices. Components of Vape Mods

Let’s see how each component of a vape mod works now that we have a basic understanding. Then we go on discussing the interchangeable tanks. The main parts are-

1. The body/ mod
2. The fire switch
3. The Tank

The mod is the main body of the vape, where there might be a digital screen showing all kinds of available customizations and adjustments.

We always put the batteries in the mod. The other main component is the tank. The tank has four sections. 

3a. The base- that connects the tank to the mod. 

3b. The coil- that heats the liquid to produce vapor.

This coil has cotton and wire. The cotton soaks up the liquid, the wire heats up due to resistance from the electricity coming from the battery, and vaporizes the liquid.

3c. The glass tube holds the liquid.

3d. The top cap- seals off the tank.

3e. Drip tip- is where we inhale the vapor.

To smoke, we press the fire switch that completes the circuit. The electricity from the battery goes to the highly resistant coil. The coil heats up and vaporizes the liquid that we draw from the drip tip.

Are Vape Tanks interchangeable?

We have finally come down to tank compatibility. How convenient is it to use a mod? Can we interchange tanks? Would it work? To answer them one by one, we first need to understand that the tanks are connected to the mod by the base. This base should be compatible enough to take the current supplied by the mod and pass it to the tank. The mod has to provide sufficient current to the tank for it to work. The default tank which comes along with the mod is perfectly compatible with it. The tank may require high energy output from the mod that causes low battery life. Other tanks might not have a similar energy requirement. If the voltage is too much, it may burn the coil or damage the tank. The case may also be the other way round.

One more important thing to note before customizing tanks, we need to make sure that there is a 510 connection on both the tank and the mod.

Without this connection, the components won’t fit. The coil also comes as a deciding factor in whether or not the tank is eligible to go with the mod. What is power, you may ask? Power is the rate of energy transfer per unit of time. To work with a high resistance component, we need high power. So for more resistance, we need more power. A 0.25ohm coil works best with 15-20 watts of power, and a 0.4ohm works best between a higher 23-28 watt range. We can calculate the required power supply for our coil by simply using ohm’s law (R=V/I). We can also put the figures in an online calculator to get the results. 

Vape coils should be changed every 2-3 weeks even if the tank is not changed as we won’t want a burnt taste from our e-liquid. They are not universal. The coils cannot fit in other tanks. So stacking up on these coils from the local vape store might be a good idea.

Health concerns

Vaping is not a substitute for smoking. Vape may not contain a high amount of nicotine, but it still has harmful chemicals and artificial substances. It is still addictive. Vaping has not been around us for long enough to know the long-term health issues on our bodies. There have been few noted cases of lung damage from vaping and even some deaths. Nicotine hinders brain development in both adults and kids. It also affects memory functions. Other problems may arise in self-control, attention, moods, etc.
